In what was already expected to be the most exciting summer festival on the eastern seaboard, the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship has significantly expanded its music component to include a full concert featuring the platinum selling band O.A.R. immediately following the first day’s competition on Saturday, June 4th.
Access to the exclusive concert is included with the purchase of tickets to the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby championship scheduled for Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, PA. The live concert will feature a full set from O.A.R. and will take place in the festival grounds adjacent to the stadium located on the Delaware riverfront.
“We’re thrilled to be performing at the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship. Rugby is a high-energy sport and rugby fans around the world are known for having a good time. The combination of rugby fans and O.A.R. fans should make for an unforgettable experience,” said Jerry DePizzo of O.A.R.
In addition to the live O.A.R. concert, the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship features over 60 matches of men’s and women’s championship competition; sports activities throughout the weekend including the Civilian Military Combine; an exclusive ATAVUS tackling clinic hosted by current and former rugby and football professionals; and a music festival to close out Sunday’s competition.
“Every year the tournament and festival increases in size and scope,” said Donal Walsh, Event Manager. “This year’s combination of world-class rugby along with a major music festival headlined by O.A.R. delivers sports and music fans the best value in live entertainment.”
The event’s designation as an official Olympic Day will kick off the summer of rugby as the sport returns to the Olympic Games this August in Rio de Janeiro.
