Barbara A. Casey, a real estate attorney with Ballard Spahr, is the 2017 recipient of the Committee Chair’s Award from the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA) in recognition of her exemplary service to the group's Legislative Affairs Committee.
Ms. Casey, a partner in Ballard Spahr's New Jersey office in Cherry Hill, was selected for her "stellar participation" and "significant contributions to the Committee over the past year," according to a letter from NJBA President Dwight W. Pittenger. The Legislative Affairs Committee analyzes, develops, and advocates positions on state laws, pending legislation, and regulations affecting building in New Jersey, and protects and promotes the interests of the building industry.
During the past year, Ms. Casey has worked with the NJBA on several initiatives related to proposed legislation governing the formation, registration, and operation of condominium and homeowners association activities, in addition to working with the Legislative Affairs Committee on reviewing and analyzing proposed legislation affecting the building industry.
Ms. Casey was presented the award on April 4 during the NJBA's Annual Board of Directors Meeting in Atlantic City. The annual meeting is part of the Atlantic Builders Convention, the NJBA's signature event and the largest regional building industry trade show in the Northeast. The convention draws thousands of building industry professionals for educational programs, product demonstrations and displays, and networking.
This marks the third time Ms. Casey has been honored with the Committee Chair’s Award, having received it in 2008 and 2014 as well.
Ms. Casey's practice focuses on real property acquisition, development, sales, leasing, and commercial lending. She represents clients before local planning and zoning boards and in the registration and development of condominium and homeowners association and timeshare projects, including mixed-use projects.
