24th Annual Leadership Excellence Award Dinner will be held June 1

Michael McGuinness, chief executive officer of the New Jersey Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, will be honored at the 24th Annual Monmouth University Kislak Real Estate Institute Leadership Excellence Award Dinner. The event will take place Thursday, June 1, at 5 p.m. at the university’s Woodrow Wilson Hall, 400 Cedar Avenue, in West Long Branch.

The Kislak Real Estate Institute at Monmouth University was established in order to meet the educational needs of the real estate industry in a university setting. Programs provide undergraduate and graduate students with the skills and experience needed for a productive career in real estate. The Kislak Real Estate Institute’s Master’s in Business Administration is the only such program offered at any New Jersey college or university, and learning opportunities for CRE professionals are provided through its Real Estate Certificate program.

McGuinness will receive the Service to the Industry Award, which is given occasionally to an individual or organization who has provided exceptional service and support in advocacy, education or other services to the real estate industry.

NAIOP NJ has close to 750 members representing developers, owners, asset managers and investors of commercial real estate including office, industrial, mixed-use and retail properties. Monmouth University is a member of NAIOP NJ, with 50 students currently participating in the association through its University Membership program. NAIOP NJ members have shared insights and career advice with students at the Kislak Real Estate Institute, and its director, Peter S. Reinhart, has served as a NAIOP Deal of the Year Judge since 2013.

“NAIOP NJ is committed to educating the future leaders of our industry and creating opportunities for them to engage with and learn from real estate professionals,” said McGuinness. “We value our relationship with the University and I am humbled to receive this honor on behalf of our entire association, which is deeply involved in advancing the issues that impact our members and communities across the state.”

McGuinness has guided the organization’s progress since he joined the staff in 1997, overseeing operations and programs and working in consultation with the officers and board of trustees to carry out NAIOP’s mission. He is a registered legislative agent, directs the advocacy program and manages the Developers Political Action Committee (DPAC). McGuinness frequently testifies before New Jersey legislative committees and regulatory agencies on matters of importance to the industrial and commercial real estate development industry.
