Penn Community Bank Serves as Title Sponsor for NOVA NOBULLying Run

6/22/17

Bucks County’s leading mutual financial institution donated $10,000 to support the 2017 event

Penn Community Bank was proud to partner with Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) of Bucks County to be the title sponsor of the organization’s 5th annual NO BULLying Run, a 5-mile run and 1-mile fun run on Sunday, June 11 in Doylestown’s Central Park.

Penn Community Bank donated $10,000 to support the 2017 NO BULLying Run, the 5th anniversary of the event which was first held in 2013. Attracting runners and walkers from across the region, the run has become a premier event for NOVA and aims to help to raise awareness of the effects and consequences of bullying.

More than 1 in 5 students report being bullied, according to figures from the National Center for Educational Statistics. Children and teens who are bullied are at higher risk for irregular school attendance, academic problems, substance abuse, anxiety, depression and health consequences such as headaches and stomachaches.

All race proceeds benefit NOVA, which supports, counsels and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County and works to prevent and eliminate violence in society through advocacy, training, community education and prevention programs.

Founded in 1974, NOVA is a nonprofit, community-based organization. Services are made possible through the financial support of federal, state, and local government grants and contracts, United Way of Bucks County, corporations, foundations, and private donations.
