Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A. partner Karen Rose Karpousis and senior associate Erika Goldberg took part in the Alice Paul Professional Leadership Institute (APPLI): College & Careers program on June 29, 2017. As volunteer mentors, they shared personal stories related to their legal training and choice of profession as matrimonial attorneys. The goal was to help teenage girls gain insight regarding educational and career options so they can make informed decisions about their futures.
According to the Alice Paul Institute web site, API’s mission is to honor the legacy of Alice Paul’s work for gender equality through education and leadership development. Its Alice Paul Professional Leadership Institute (APPLI): College & Careers is a four-day program, which includes college campus and workplace visits, networking practice and career workshops. Mentors play a large role in the bringing career and college awareness to teen girls in APPLI.
Says Ms. Goldberg, “The Alice Paul Foundation is an inspiring organization, and I was incredibly honored to be a part of such a worthwhile event. It was a fun and extremely rewarding experience to have the opportunity to speak with and mentor such bright and focused young women.” A regular volunteer with many local groups, Ms. Karpousis went on to add, “I agree. Mentoring the young women who attend the Alice Paul institute was both rewarding and inspiring. It was an honor to share college and career advice with the future leaders in our community.”
