Nexus Properties Announces Five New Retail Leases in Downtown Glassboro

10/4/17

Rowan Boulevard, the centerpiece of Glassboro’s burgeoning downtown, adds new shopping, dining, convenience and fitness options

Nexus Properties today announced five new retail openings at Rowan Boulevard, the $400-million “public-public-private” multi-phase redevelopment anchoring Glassboro’s emerging downtown. The new leases bring additional dining, shopping, fitness and beauty options to what is quickly becoming a magnetic, inter-generational town center.

This announcement comes on the heels of the opening of the A3 phase of the Rowan Boulevard development, bringing a unique mix of 557 student beds, 37 market-rate apartments, 40,000 square feet of retail and office space, state-of-the-art classrooms and a 934-car multi-level parking garage.

Each of the new storefronts on Rowan Boulevard will include:

  • Alicia DiMichele Boutique, led by designer and fashionista Alicia DiMichele of VH1’s “Mob Wives.” The women’s fashion boutique has opened on the ground floor of the Enterprise Center at Rowan Boulevard.
  • Tech Zone, an Apple-Certified IT maintenance shop, available to repair or replace damaged electronics, broken cell phones and personal computers. The store will open on 220 Rowan Blvd October 19th and celebrate with a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. the same day.
  • Six Pack Training, a personal training facility located adjacent to Rowan University’s new student fitness center, on Victoria Street. Six Pack Training offers personalized exercise programs, coaching and fitness classes. Grand opening is slated for October 28th .
  • Cookie Munchers, a cookie delivery service operated by Rowan University alum with an already-impressive local following. The new storefront will offer delivery or pick-up of freshly-baked cookies from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Mexican Mariachi Grill, a restaurant which will serve traditional Mexican food for locals to enjoy in a sit-down dining experience or as a convenient take-out option. The restaurant is scheduled to open in December.

“The new businesses coming to Rowan Boulevard bring a new level of vibrancy to what is becoming one of the most exciting downtowns anywhere in the region,” said Nexus Properties’ COO Dante Germano. “There’s no question that these new dining and retail options will be a huge hit, both with Rowan University students and the broader community alike.”

In addition to the recent retail leasing activity, Rowan Boulevard is home to a variety of existing retailers, including the popular sports bar Chickie & Pete’s, Tony Luke’s and Barnes Noble Bookstore and café – all open year-round, offering an assortment of restaurants, shops, health & beauty services, and more.

“Offering a diverse and desirable assortment of retail options is a critical component of making Rowan Boulevard a truly great destination,” said Ronda Abbruzzese, Nexus Properties’ vice president of leasing and marketing, who represented the company in-house in the transactions. “What we’re creating is so much more than a hub for student housing – it’s a year-round, walkable downtown for all generations.”

The final phase of the Rowan Boulevard project is currently undergoing construction and is expected to open in August 2018.

More on Rowan Boulevard

The Rowan Boulevard initiative, a “public-public-private” partnership between the Borough of Glassboro, Rowan University, and private developers led by Nexus Properties, is anchoring the transformation of downtown Glassboro by cultivating an exciting variety of retail, dining, medical facilities, community space, and new residences for students and professionals alike.

Once completed, Rowan Boulevard will offer 2,771 student beds, 82,000 square feet of classroom space, 114 market-rate apartments, a 129-room hotel, 28,000 square feet of medical space, a 17,700 square feet fitness center, 144,000 sf of retail space, a 1.75 acre town square and two parking garages totaling over 2,300 parking spaces.

The Rowan Boulevard redevelopment embodies the vision to establish a magnetic, inter-generational ‘main street,’ serving as the centerpiece both for the burgeoning Glassboro community and Rowan University, one of the fastest-growing colleges in the nation. This growing city-style walkable hub is quickly becoming one of South Jersey’s most exciting downtown settings for shopping, dining and events.
