Cushman & Wakefield Volunteers to Help Central PA Food Bank Families

10/9/17

Industrial real estate professionals from Cushman & Wakefield’s Scranton, Harrisburg, Conshohocken, Philadelphia and Allentown offices partnered with volunteers at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to package 600 bags of apples – more than 3,000 pounds – for distribution to community members in need in central Pennsylvania. In addition, volunteers packaged boxes of general pantry items such as soup, pasta and cereal to distribute to armed forces personnel and families of veterans.

“We embrace opportunities to partner with community groups where we live and do business,” Cushman & Wakefield Executive Managing Director Gerry Blinebury said. "Giving back to communities is an important part of our corporate culture.”

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank's Fresh Express Program provides nutritious, fresh foods in season to more than 11,000 people in 15 counties each month. The boxes were distributed to veterans through 13 VFW and American Legion halls as part of the Food Bank’s MilitaryShare program, which launched one year ago. “The program reaches more than 2,000 households a month with nutritious, well-balanced meals,” said Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s Individual Giving Manager Sue Ward-Diorio. “We’ve set a goal to double that number in 2017, and with that expansion, we will reach about 5,000 food-insecure military neighbors a month with approximately 134,000 nutritious meals.”
