PPG Completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project at Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation in Amstelveen

10/23/17

AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project in Amstelveen, Netherlands, that helped revitalize the facilities of the Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in nearby Amsterdam and Uithoorn, where PPG has Architectural Coatings and Protective and Marine Coatings facilities.

The project brought together more than 50 PPG volunteers, who spent an entire day revitalizing various spaces and items throughout the facility, including guest rooms, the medical area, training equipment and outdoor benches. PPG provided $40,000 to assist with the project, as well as 180 liters (about 48 gallons) of SIGMA COATINGS™ paint products that included the recently introduced Sigma Coatings Air Pure bio-based wall paint, which removes up to 70 percent of formaldehyde from indoor air.

The Royal Dutch Guide Dog Foundation (KNGF Geleidehonden) trains guide dogs for the visually impaired and others who can benefit from canine assistance, such as young children with autism, individuals using wheelchairs and people with post-traumatic stress disorder.

“It is inspiring to see the passion demonstrated by the PPG volunteers to beautify the location of our charity partner, KNGF Geleidehonden,” said Jan Willem Tegelaar, PPG general manager, Protective and Marine Coatings, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Working together to contribute to our community is a rewarding experience.”

The Colorful Communities program is PPG’s signature initiative for community engagement efforts, with the aim to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. The program increases PPG’s commitment to invest in communities and supports projects that transform community assets, providing PPG volunteers and donated PPG products. In 2015 and 2016 combined, PPG completed nearly 60 Colorful Communities projects, and it expects to complete about 75 more this year.
