Gateway Health's Yolanda Jimenez-Colón Named One of Delaware Valley's Most Influential Latinos

Yolanda Jimenez-Colón, who leads Latino Relations for Gateway Health's Community Engagement & Growth Department, has been selected as one of 50 of the Most Influential Latinos in the Delaware Valley. Ms. Jimenez-Colón will be recognized for her commitment and contributions to the Delaware Valley's Latino community at a ceremony to be held from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday, November 17 at the National Museum of Jewish History, 101 S. Independence Mall East, Philadelphia. The awards ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m.

"I am truly humbled and grateful to receive this recognition," said Jimenez-Colón. "This is my passion and I put my heart and soul into this job and the community I serve and want to help bridge that gap between the healthcare education and access and the Latino community."

In her role as a community relations leader, Jimenez-Colón provides outreach to the Hispanic areas of Delaware Valley, helping educate community members about the importance of preventive healthcare, available healthcare services, health and wellness and public health challenges.

"Yolanda represents the face of Gateway Health's education in the Latino community with her dedicated vision," said Kenneth Brown, Gateway's Director of Community Engagement & Growth. "Her investment in health education provides a great return for future generations and her body of work inspires how we interact with our communities."

Jimenez-Colón also collaborates with other departments to improve their outreach to the Latino community, supporting Gateway's role as a mission-driven and customer-centric health plan by adopting a culturally and linguistically competent approach to delivering access to healthcare.

"I want to make sure we are embedded and visible in the Latino communities so we can connect with the area leaders, address healthcare and other community challenges and make sure Gateway Health is a mainstay and recognized partner in the community," said Jimenez-Colón on her recognition.

In addition to supporting communities in the Delaware Valley, Jimenez-Colón also acts as Gateway's bilingual communications liaison in the Hispanic markets of Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Delawareand Pennsylvania. Jimenez-Colón also serves on various committees, including co-chair of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging Latino Advisory Committee, the American Heart Association's Multicultural Leadership Committee, Latino Golden Age Committee, and Congreso's Neighborhood Advisory Committee Advisory Committee. She is also a member of various professional groups and organizations.

The Delaware Valley's Most Influential Latinos celebration will gather 500 Latino leaders from across the Philadelphia region for an evening of recognition and honor.
