Comcast (CMCSA) is a stock we are considering adding to our Dividend Portfolio, especially after its relative under-performance this year and recent fall from all time highs. As you may have guessed from the article title, we have mixed feelings about the company. The numbers in our title refer the percent of Comcast's operating income that comes from each of its business segments.
We view Comcast's core Cable Communications business segment as great (more on that later) and its Theme Parks, Filmed Entertainment, and Broadcast Television businesses as mediocre. We view it's Cable Networks business, the portion of the company under the greatest threat from cord-cutting, as straight up undesirable to own and "bad."
