NKF Broker Honored at Long Island Elite Charity Masquerade

12/1/17

Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) is pleased to announce that Managing Director Scott Berfas was recently recognized as an honoree at the Long Island Elite’s (LIE) commemorative 15th Anniversary Charity Masquerade. An organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of Long Island’s business professionals and emerging regional leaders, Long Island Elite partners with a different charity every year. For this year’s milestone “Beauty and the Beast”-themed anniversary celebration, $80,000 was raised, directly benefitting the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF).

Since joining LIE almost 12 years ago, Berfas has been recognized for his significant contributions to the organization. He was honored with the Long Island Elite’s Contemporary Award at the Charity Masquerade, alongside Sterling National BankCEO Jack Kopnisky and Doctor John Passarelli of SightMD, Long Island’s largest ophthalmology group. Berfas continues to give back to the Long Island community and sits on the board of another 501 (c) (3) organization, Harbor Child Care. He participates in Harbor Child Care’s annual Adopt-a-Family program, whereby he provides winter clothing, food, toys and financial support for underprivileged children and their families during the winter holiday season.

The mission of the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation is to help improve quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders and their caregivers by fostering an educational network of supporters. With the slogan “Be Our Guest,” the theme of the charity event aligned with LIAF’s community mission and welcoming attitude. Hosted at the majesticOheka Castle in Huntington, New York, the lively evening included hors-d’oeuvres, cocktails, a lavish display of food in the Castle’s famous dessert room, live music, entertainment and prizes.

“We are proud of Scott’s involvement with this excellent organization which is committed to enriching the community through professional development,” said Executive Vice President and Managing Director of NKF’s Long Island Office Chuck Tabone. “NKF values the team mentality, and this commitment to a group that encourages those in the business community to stand together is a standard for which we all strive.”
