Why This Camden Startup Is Offering Nonprofits Design Work For $1

It’s been a banner year for the tech side of Camden’s revitalization efforts.

Let’s name a few big gets: the Philadelphia 76ers launched a 8,000-square-foot startup accelerator, coworking center Waterfront Lab opened up shop with a dozen startups and Hopeworks ‘N Camden scored a $420,000 donation that will let it roll into 2018 in expansion mode.

But there’s still lots of work in the Jersey city, where almost 40 percent of its citizens live below the poverty line. It’s what’s driving a campaign by Camden-based Penji, a startup offering on-demand design services. Under the tagline Camden Unlimited, the company’s giving Camden-based startups the chance to apply for its design services on the cheap.
