Richard E. Jordan III

Smith Land & Improvement Corporation, headquartered in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, announces executive leadership transitions effective immediately. Richard E. Jordan II, President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board since 1992, has promoted Richard E. Jordan III, formerly Chief Operating Officer, to President and Chief Executive Officer. Jordan II will retain the role of Chairman of the Board. Jordan III is the fourth-generation executive for the privately-held family business celebrating its 100th year in 2018. Luther B. Smith founded the company in 1918 which now encompasses the commercial real estate corporation and subsidiary, L.B. Smith Ford Lincoln, Inc.

"This transition reflects our solid growth as a corporation, confidence in the real estate outlook, and our market position," says Jordan II. "It's a special opportunity to lead a family business and an honor to work alongside my son—to see his business acumen, strategic thinking, and community leadership deepen. Since he joined our team in 1994, he's experienced an unprecedented and unpredicted range of economic cycles, and this hands-on education has more than prepared him to lead our company into the next generation of service. Our guiding vision continues to be 'Commitment to Community. Opportunities for Enterprise.™' We build long-lasting relationships with national and local clients and communities."

"These are exciting times to be in land development and to reimagine and redevelop properties for the highest and best use of every asset—our people, new technologies, job growth—and ultimately to strengthen our communities. Our most recent project is a full redevelopment of the block directly across from our headquarters, literally in our front yard. We have a reputation for investing in the neighborhoods we serve through philanthropy and economic development, and we care deeply about supporting our tenants and neighbors," says Jordan III.

Looking ahead, Smith Land & Improvement Corporation will continue to seek opportunities for new development with a focus on attracting tenants in life sciences and retail that will enrich the community, as well as redevelop and modernize their existing portfolio. "One of the barriers to entry for entrepreneurs and job creators is access to affordable, safe, and secure space to start and grow a business," says Jordan III. "Our locations, brand positioning, and marketing support for our commercial, office, and retail tenants is an economic game-changer for our region."
