Hyland Levin LLP is pleased to announce that Julie M. Murphy has been named a partner in the firm. Julie concentrates her practice in the areas of business reorganization, loan restructuring, loan documentation and real estate law. A seasoned bankruptcy and workout lawyer, Julie is a tenacious and thoughtful advocate for her clients. She consistently offers clients strategies to get ahead of common pitfalls on troubled credits and when needed, pursues remedies to maximize recoveries on troubled debt.

Regularly advising financial institutions andother creditors in workouts, reorganizations and restructuring of defaulted credit facilities, Julie represents a variety of creditors in all types of bankruptcy, insolvency, collection and foreclosure proceedings. Clients describe her as extremely responsive and a thoughtful listener who works tremendously hard to tailor legal strategies to align with her clients’ needs, goals and concerns.

Prior to joining Hyland Levin, Julie practiced law at Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young, LLP. Julie is admitted to practice in state and federal district and bankruptcy courts in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Julie is a board member of the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project and serves on the Board of the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey. She has also volunteered as a child advocate attorney for the Support Center for Child Advocates, and has advocated on behalf of clients with the Department of Human Services, and various mental health and academic providers. Julie is also a graduate of the Young Leaders Program, a non-profit board leadership training program held by the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

Before attending law school, Julie taught elementary school in the Bronx and worked as a paralegal in the litigation department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison in New York. Julie is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.A. 2001), Hunter College (M.S., 2004) and Rutgers University School of Law – Camden (J.D. with honors, 2007), where she was an Associate Editor of the Rutgers Law Review. During law school, Julie was a summer intern for the Honorable Robert B. Kugler, U.S District Judge for the District of New Jersey.
