Amazon to Build 1M SF Fulfillment Center in Robbinsville, NJ
Amazon (AMZN) plans to open a 1 million square foot fulfillment center in Robbinsville, NJ, where employees will pick, pack and ship smaller items - anything from books to DVDs, for example - to customers.
KTR Capital Partners, a private equity firm, is building the project with Amazon planning to take occupancy in early 2014. The expected investment in the project will exceed $200 million.
The company will create hundreds of full-time jobs with benefits at the site.
Amazon fulfillment center jobs pay, on average, 30 percent more than traditional retail jobs, according to the company, and that does not include the stock grants that full-time employees receive, which over the past five years have added an average of 9 percent to base pay annually. Amazon also offers full-time benefits including healthcare.
