Lori Shemtob, Esq., a founding partner of Shemtob Law, P.C., a full service family law firm, recently spoke at the Annual Convention of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Her talk was on the fundamentals of divorce law and covered the law with regard to separation and divorce, equitable distribution of property, child support, alimony, custody, prenuptial agreements, grandparent and other third party rights to custody, as well as relocation.
Ms. Shemtob has been practicing divorce and family law for over 20 years. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), an honor bestowed on only 75 attorneys in Pennsylvania. She has also been certified by the AAML as an Arbitrator. There are less than 15 certified family law arbitrators in Pennsylvania. She is a frequent lecturer and faculty member on topics related to divorce, equitable distribution, custody and support for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Institute, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Montgomery Bar Association, Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists, and many civic organizations. Ms. Shemtob is a past Chairperson of the Montgomery Bar Association Family Law Section, a former member of the Counsel for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section, and is on the Family Law Advisory Council for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. She is also on the Advisory Board of Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania and is the Case Notes Co-Editor for the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer publication. A graduate of Temple Law School (1987), Ms. Shemtob received her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts (1977).
